Who we are

Wear by Weather shows clothing recommendations based on the current weather at a location you choose. The service is available at wearbyweather.com and as an iOS app. This policy covers both. For anything privacy related, contact contact@wearbyweather.com.

The short version

We have no user accounts, no advertising trackers, and no database of visitors. Your location is used at request time to fetch a forecast and filter products to stores that ship to your country, then discarded. We never sell data.

Location data

Location reaches the service in one of three ways:

• City search.The city name you type is sent to Open-Meteo's geocoding service to resolve coordinates. The name also appears in the page URL.
• Approximate location. On the website, our hosting provider (Vercel) derives an approximate city-level location from your IP address so the homepage can show relevant recommendations without any input.
• Precise location. Only if you tap the locate button or grant the iOS app location permission. The browser or device provides coordinates, which are used for the forecast lookup. You can decline or revoke this permission at any time and use city search instead.

In all three cases the location is used to answer your request and is not stored by us afterwards.

What we do not collect

No accounts, names, email addresses, passwords, or payment details. Purchases happen entirely on each merchant's own store under that merchant's privacy policy. We set no advertising cookies and run no third-party analytics or tracking pixels.

Services we rely on

Each of these receives only what it needs to answer a request, such as coordinates or a search query:

• Open-Meteo for weather forecasts and city geocoding.
• Shopifyfor product search across its merchants' catalogs. Search queries and a destination country are sent; in the iOS app these requests go directly from your device, so Shopify sees your IP address the same way any website you visit does.
• BigDataCloud and ipwho.is for coordinate and IP based location lookups.
• Vercel hosts the website and, like all hosting providers, keeps short-lived standard server logs (IP address, request path) for security and operations.

The iOS app

The app asks for location permission with the "while using" scope only, and works without it via city search. Weather and product requests are made directly from your device to the services above. The app contains no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no tracking as defined by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework.

Cookies and local storage

We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. The site may use essential browser storage strictly for making pages work, such as remembering the state of the current page.

Children

The service is not directed at children under 13 and we knowingly collect no personal information from anyone, children included.

Your rights

Because we keep no personal data, there is usually nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you believe we hold something about you, or you have any question about this policy, email contact@wearbyweather.com and we will respond.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date. Material changes to how location is handled will be called out on this page.
